starfox | Started a batch of blackberry and lemonbalm wine today. picked 4lb of berries from the local fields and lemonbalm from my garden. Last year I made it exactly to the recipe, but this time I am experimenting. I got the basic recipe from here. http://www.familyherbalremedies.com/blackberry_wine_recipe.html Blackberry wine is known for its extremely rich content of different vitamins and minerals as well as organic and inorganic ingredients giving it its nutritional and healing value. Especially valuable is the amount of iron and vitamins B and C. Phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, sugar, pectin and some vitamin A are also found. Acids in the blackberry wine are similar to the gastric acid; therefore they are helpful in a food digestion - proteins especially. Blackberry wine is the richest natural source of body absorbing iron. Iron is the main ingredient of haemoglobin responsible for oxygen transportation throughout the blood system. Lack of iron in the body slows down the transport of the oxygen to cells and weakening of the organism. http://www.kupinovovino.com/en/kupinovo-vino

juniperb | Now starfox, that looks like a mighty fine wine I have made grape, mullberry, elderberry and dandelion wine which is good but I never imbibed for nutritional value I have huge patchs of wild blackberries and black caps so I should try it. Mine needs cut with another liquid too because I can`t take the rich strong bite out of it. Suggestions? ------------------ Submit to Love without thinking, as the sun rose this morning recklessly, extinguishing our star-candled minds. Rumi |
Randall | Went to a wine dinner a while back and wanted to taste it, but I couldn't get past the smell. |

Well I find lemonade works well as a mixer & somebody suggested ice cold cola to me the other day, which could make for a very interesting mix!
